Samuel Burket Family

Samuel Reuben Burket and wife Ella Jane Mosher and family.
The boy with the dog and BB gun is James Peter Burkett.

School pictures was taken that day that is why my father and the biggest
girls were nicely dressed, I also have the school picture.
My father was born 1905, so he is 11  years old in the picture.
This picture was taken about 4:00 p.m. in the afternoon after the kids came
home from school, it was about a mile up the hill atop Mt. Pleasant.
My father stated the BB guns them days was often excellent
quality, very accurate, he shot a lot of rabbits with the BB gun.
Behind is my grandfathers team of horses, all fancied up with fancy
work harnesses.  My grandfather loved the horses.

Patty,
Rebecca J. is listed only once in the book, BURKET/BURKETT/BURKHARDT FAMILY TALES AND TRAILS 1649-1991 Volume #1 that  I have about our Burkett line, she's just listed as Jacob and Angeline's oldest child.  It doesn't say when she died, but she was born in PA in 1856.  Our line start in Niederstoltzingen in the Schwabish region of Bararia, GErmany with JORG (George) Burckhardt & Apollina Meyer.  Their son begat Andreas, who begat Andreas, who begat Johanes, who begat Johann.  Johann married Polly Koontz (of Prussian Nobility), and they are the ones from out line who came to America in 1741 on the Loyal Judith.  Their son, Jacob, I believe was Rebecca's grandfather, was born in Amsterdam before his parents sailed to America.  One of Jacob's son's, Rebecca's uncle, John William, was the father of David, who settled in Texas.

Time for another of Arnold's "poems.."

"Oak Leaves"
Today I looked out my window
I seen an oak leaf fluttering by.
I thought I should write you just to say Hi.
Seasons come and seasons go,
But I think its time you should know
The leaves serve us only for a while.
Then they leave us with a smile.
They are God's plan to live and die.
That is why I wrote you,
Just to say, Hi.
