Sure hope that you are enjoying this trip down memory lane for those of you have been there. For you that all of this is new, I am hoping that you can catch a idea and glimpse of what your family was like. None of us were perfect in any sense of the word, but all of us, kids and grandkids, were compassionate people, hard workers, honest as the day is long, and reliable to our word. Hopefully that has made up for our not so perfect personalities at times. <smile>
Isn't he the cutest kid around? This is Noah on his fourteenth birthday at our home. This was one of the very few times that all of the kids and grandkids were together at the same time. Wish I could tweak my nose and make it happen again like that, as it was so much fun. We played all kinds of kids games and we laughed so hard our sides hurt. What fun! Aren't we lucky to have memories!! We, well I and the kids, slept outside in the screened in-room tent that night.
Here I am in the pasture with some horses that weren't ours as we rented out the pasture for a short time. The area sure doesn't look like that now at all! We quit boarding horses when one of them bit Raymond in the lower back and eventually had to have surgery as the injury was leaning towards becoming cancerous. |
This is Katy...a sweetie pie that we have been involved with as extra grandparents since her birth. We have two shelves now of ceramic bear statues that we are the proud owners of. Every holiday known to man, she comes with those cute sacks for gifts, with a bear for Papa and one for me! Everyone of them is different and so cute! She is growing up so fast.
This is my brother, Sonny, with one of the airplanes that he made. Some of them had gasoline motors and what fun to watch them fly. He was good at whatever he did. When he was sick with Rheumatic fever and had to stay in bed, he took up taxidermy of all things. He even finally was good enough to get his taxidermy license. |
This is what you do when you're a kid and it's hot outside! Nothing like laying in the water during irrigation time for the pasture. They used trash sacks for a slip 'n slide. Not too much of a hill for that so the kids pulled each other by the feet or hands. What fun they had!! (Summer of 2002)
When you get tired of pulling each other, try rolling! The fun part is when you keep rolling into each other and then does the water fly! p.s. Isaac really did get wet whether he wanted too or not. Three girls really can out smart one guy. hehee |
This is a picture of the quilt that Kathy made for PaPa. It is sooooooooooo beautiful! I can't believe the amount of hand stitching that she did on it. Raymond keeps standing in the door way looking at it. He said that, "Yup, the circle is smack dab in the middle"! (Small bedroom for a king size bed)
Everyone of those tiny pieces of fabric are quilted! I just wish you could see the huge round quilting she put in the middle of the quilt. Bless her heart, she made the quilt the size of a bedspread so that we didn't have to use a skirt to hide the box springs and frame. Remember, she doesn't use a quilting frame, but sits in a chair with her feet up on the chair and the quilt wrapped around her legs. What a gal! |
